A Link to the Past Review

First Impressions: 5/5

Sweet! And I just got the SNES, too! Gonna be cool! And "to the past"?! Oooh! What does that mean?! I'm having a hay day here!

Gameplay: 10/10

Awesome game! It took a little to get used to the controller, but it grew on me. I loved this game; controls, quests, and other things. And I got bottles! I fell in love with 'em.

Graphics: 5/5

Then's rating is for the total. Graphically good, it was "gnarly!" Sorry about the 80's slang, just wanted to throw some of my parents in there for ya. But anyway, this was way better graphic-wise than LoZ.

Story: 20/20

"Agahnim?" Who is he? The 7 wise men split up crystals and sent them across the land in the Dark World and then the pendants across the Light World (oooh...two worlds?)? Cool. And when I found out that Agahnim was Ganon in disguise, I was shocked! Thanks, Nintendo! Good story so far!

Challenge: 5/5

If you got the boomerang but did not throw it in the fairy fountain to get the red one, you were in trouble. Either your boomerang couldn't stun the boss and you were killed, or you needed it in the 3rd dungeon. I died so many times in this game... I can't even count! Here's an estimate: maybe 60 times? Dang those Like-Likes! You keep taking my red shield! Grrrr!!

Interaction: 15/15

Another town? All right! And Sahasrahla? He looks like the sword guy in LoZ! I like the old woman in Kakariko village, too!

Side-Quests: 1/5

Eh...I don't really know about this one. I guess you could call getting a bug net a side-quest, but not really. Sorry, Link. Try to do more in your adventures.

Continuity: 5/5

It continues into the other stories, especially Four Swords. In Four Swords for GBA, you can't access Vaati's Palace unless you play Four Swords. Now that's what I call continuity!

Music: 10/10

I loved the "new" Hyrule Field theme. It was really good. And the new castle theme was good, too! Oh! The boss theme was in each of the boss battles, and I liked that. Great!

Overall Feel/Originality: 20/20

This is just like the first Zelda, except for the new bosses and places to go. And Hyrule got bigger! This was original! A new world, new dungeons, and new forms for the enemies! Again, dang those Like-Likes!

TOTAL: 96; an A

That's one awesome Zelda game!

First Impressions: 5/5

When I first saw this game it was pretty awesome.

Gameplay: 10/10

It is a really long game, and can keep you busy anywhere from 10 - 30 hours!

Graphics: 5/5

Yes it looks good on SNES and GBA! It still, after 10 years looks like a winner!

Story: 18/20

Most Zelda games have excellent stories, and ALttP is no exception!

Challenge: 3/5

This game can be hard at first, but gets to be too easy after beating it a few times.

Interaction: 10/15

Pretty small, not realistic, and not many people to talk to; after a couple of levels, the people even disappear.

Side-Quests: 3/5

Nothing other than item collecting.

Continuity: 5/5

Contains enough plot to plop it into the full Legend of Zelda.

Music: 10/10

Great Music--it's very catchy and doesn't get old easily.

Overall Feel/Originality: 20/20

A very worthwhile game to play.

TOTAL: 89/100; a B+
