Legal Disclaimer

This page is in no way affiliated with Nintendo®. Link™, Zelda™, Ganon™, and all other aspects of the Legend of Zelda series are copyright (©) Nintendo. This website was created by a devoted fan for the benefits of himself and others, and I am in no way being paid for the creation or upkeep of this site. If anything, I'm paying with my time.

Perhaps you, like many others, are wondering as to what a copyright actually is, or what it means? Then I recommend you visit www.whatiscopyright.org, which provides a wonderful description that surely cleared up the small amount of confusion I had left.

And what does this copyright thing mean for you? Well, it means that every word of this site, and the layout, and the images, are the copyright of someone. There's too much on it to say that it is all copyright The Written Legend, but most of it is (things such as EDN's button aren't, of course). Do I have these copyrights registered with any government? No. So, if you stole it, can I sue you? Nope. However, what I can do, along with everyone else in this community who hates plagiarism and theft, is just as bad. To quote from TWL's "affiliation, etc." policies:

"...I will do everything in my power to destroy you and your site. And I do mean EVERYTHING: contacting your ISP to see if we can get your internet connection revoked, handing out you IP Address, for people to happily abuse, contacting every one of your affiliates/top affiliates/allies/sibling sites/whatever to make sure that they drop you, contacting your host so that they shut down your site, and the list goes on! You will regret being born into this world if you ever plagiarise, I guarantee it! I don't care if it's the content of ZU or a tiny little GeoCities site (like the RotT, and yes, my content has been stolen before), you will pay in [insert whatever gruesome thing your mind can imagine]!"

That makes my point pretty clear, ne? ^_^!

Submission and Editing Policies

I have no desire to write this; it makes me sad that it must be done, truthfully. You see, due to a recent spat between Advent Goddess of the now-closed Twisted Futurity and the webmaster of Hidden Triforce over a silly layout (which included a minor dispute about to whom the layout belonged) and a sad incident between Darth Citrus of EDN and T.O.W.S.L. (or Darth Honeyroast, I think) of the now re-built Zelda Insanity about to whom belonged a large amount of content, I now need to state TWL's submission and editing policies right here, right now, and, unfortunately, they won't be pretty.

All content submitted to The Written Legend (www.writtenlegend.net), including Through the Lens articles, theories, "What If...?" articles/blurbs, "What The..?!" articles/blurbs, news articles, Skeets, editorials, tutorials, Flippant Farces!, LoZ Game Reviews, guest writings (including the writer's biography), fanfiction, fanart, poetry, wallpapers, graphics, splash pages, and layouts, are the property of The Written Legend from the time of submission onward. We retain the sole rights to the work in question, and can post it, edit it, take it down, and use it as we see fit. This includes, but is not limited to, all works submitted by staff. We use our editorial and censoring rights infrequently and at our discretion, but we retain them all the same. Hence, do not submit any thing to us unless you are prepared to give up the rights to that sole work entirely.

Gosh, that makes me sound like a heartless bastard. ^^" Oh well, it's definitely necessary to have this policy these days. I can't wait until the day some irate fan demands that I remove his/her fanfic because I wouldn't let him/her do such-and-such a thing. Then I'll just direct them to this page and cackle madly at them. Talk about relieving stress! XD Be aware, though, that while I am serious in the above policy, if you e-mail me with a polite request to remove something of yours, I'll most likely take it down. I unfortunately decided to include the guest writing section, too, which wasn't what I originally intended to do. Oh well, that's OK, I'm (almost) sure.
